Tough topic as musical tastes can be personal. But do you consider any songs as some of the best ever written and will last the test of time?

I think
The City of New Orleans (Arlo Guthrie version)
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (Joan Baez version)
Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)
Heroes (Bowie)
Suffragette City (Bowie)
All the Way from Memphis (Mott the Hoople version)
Runaway Train (Soul Asylum)
Cornflake Girl (Tori Amos)

American Pie (Don McLean)
Very powerful song. I wonder if McLean had any idea of what he was putting together. Really touched America's soul.

Gimme Shelter (Rolling Stones)
Another song that had more power than I wonder if the Stones knew at the time.

Different Drum (Linda Ronstadt cover)
Michael Nesmith's song but Ronstadt breathed such soul into it.
