Hair- after being in it (concert version), listening to it, and finally seeing it (Nat'l tour)... the characters are not great, the plot is thin, BUT-- it really seems like a Slice of Life... a wonderful portrait of the times. The lyrics and music paint a picture of history for those of us who were not there.

She Loves Me - what's not to like about this show? The score is to die for, the characters adorable and the show has seen some remarkable performances (I'm thinking Barbara Cook, Daniel Massey, Barbara Baxley and later Ruthie Henshall). It's one of the most perfect "romantic" musicals and amply demonstrates that musicals do not have to be big and spectacular - intimate shows are just as good, and often better.

The Glorious Ones has some incredible songs, courtesy of Ahrens and Flaherty, and is an overall pretty strong effort from them. It doesn't reach the same level as the likes of Ragtime or A Man of No Importance (or even Once On This Island) but it's a good one!

almost everything. the book in particular is stellar. the lyrics and music , the character of Rose being such a well layered and not likable woman.

MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG - When they re-released the recording, and added a bonus track of Bernadette singing "Not a Day Goes By". Perfection.

ONE TOUCH OF VENUS

Panama Hattie: I like that it introduced "I've Still Got My Health", one of Porter's catchiest yet more underrated tunes.
