If you've not heard these acts I suggest looking them up in iTunes.

The Gaslight Anthem

DaVinci's Notebook

Cowboy Mouth

Dean Martin

Johnny Cash

Matthew Sweet

Perry Como

Rusted Root

Siouxie and the Banshees

Concrete Blonde

Quite possibly the best combination of four words ever.

Outside of MT, I like:

Mika - flamboyant pop with a Queen-twist
Kerry Ellis - incredible vocalist with a rock edge
Amy Winehouse - distinct voice and jazz style
The Mamas and the Papas - uplifting, harmonious pop

I'm a big fan of Yael Naïm. I think her music is so refreshing. People have only heard her song that was on the Apple commercial, but she has other good ones too, including her non-English ones.

And this one is really a love-it-or-hate-it type of thing, but if you really want to try something totally out of the ordinary as far as vocals go, check out the CD Fly, Fly My Sadness. It has the Tuvan group Huun-Huur-Tu plus a female Bulgarian choir. There are some really weird/interesting harmonies, and the only instrument used is the igil in some songs. There is throat-singing too. Some of the songs can be a little trying to listen to all the way through (like "Wave" with the pulsating female voices) but every once in a while I just feel like listening to this CD for some reason. I think the best two songs are "Fly, Fly My Sadness" and "Lonely Bird."

LAKME!!! It's nice to see you around again! :D

Back on subject...I've been listening to Regina Spektor a lot lately, mainly because my best friend is obsessed with her.

Why thank you! It's nice to see you as well.

Oh, Adele too. I adore her. And Jamie Cullum.
