Best of luck! Any particular role you're going for?

What will you be directing? Also, in terms of solo songs, I've always considered "Life Outside Your Apartment" to be primarily a Brian song. I know technically it's a group number, but Brian does sing the bulk of it.

I'll be directing Brighton Beach Memoirs, which I'm pretty excited about. I submitted this to the company like 4 years in a row, and they finally took me up on it. It's one of those rare plays I love but don't want to be in, because there's not really a part for me.

"Life outside" has a page of just Brian to start (essentially the first verse) but quickly goes to everyone. In that way, kind of like "It Sucks to be Me." In any case, plenty of featured singing. And one absolute gem of a one-word line:

Brian (entering): What are you guys all laughing about?
Kate: Racism
Brian: Cool!

hee.

I got called back for Narrator and Mysterious Man, but ultimately I wasn't cast.

Problem with me is I can sing, but I can't act my way out of a paper bag. Better start reading that Stanislavski.

Ahh well, get 'em next time. Narrator doesn't really require much acting per se, but MM kind of needs to be over the top. Played the dual role a couple years ago, and whew, was that a sonuvabitch part to memorize. My cue sheet was like:

Enter USL
(line as MM) [exit DSR

** CHANGE TO NARRATOR**

Enter back house R
[Narrator line]
after song begins, step off R.

**CHANGE TO MM**
enter DSR
[3 lines as MM]
Step off mid-L

for like the entire act one.

I just got the Queen in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella! First non-ensemble role! :D

This happened awhile ago, but I got cast as Frenchy in my high school's production of Grease! Our show is in about a week. Super excited :)

This thread's been fairly moribund, but why not...

I'll be playing The Mikado in November. On painter's stilts. Should be fun...

I think the reason why this thread's been so dead is because for a lot of us, there are not a lot of auditions during the summer (for example, I only had one). But anyway, congrats Rorgg! It's always nice to hear companies doing G&S, and The Mikado is my favorite of theirs.
