Post Re: The 'Just Got Cast' Thread
I'm the Butler in my school's production of Joseph. I auditioned for Pharoah and they said it was amazing, but I still didn't get it because I'm in Year 13; and of course all year 13's have a vague 'loads to do'. even though rehearsals are only every thursday after school, the show is nowhere near exam time, and due to my subject choices I'll only have one exam, and I only have one regular daily subject so my timetable is fairly half-empty (two of my options only take on a certain day, one every wednesday afternoon, one every second friday)

still there's no changing the casting now. I'm going to go with it and try and find a way to make the butler memorable.

Due to the fact that I disagree with the amount of time that I'd have to put in, versus the amount of time I'd be on stage, I rejected the role of the Judge in Chicago. I lost Billy since I couldn't dance, :\

Not sure if this qualifies technically or not, but close enough...

I got asked to play bass (and maybe ukulele) in a production of Godspell where the band will be onstage and interacting with the cast.

How did your most recent Sweeney audition go?

One of two called back for Sweeney... and I didn't get it. There's another one in a couple months, so I can go for my fifth Sweeney callback....

I just found out I got the roles of Cinderella and Andy in my theatre class's production of Once Upon a Wolf. I was double-cast, though. We both memorize both parts, and one day I play Cinderella and she plays Andy, then the next day we switch and I'm Andy and she's Cinderella.

Anyone who knows 'Joseph' knows its a very boy heavy show, which is not good for schools. In the case of my school, they cast whatever boys they could get to get the full 11 brothers. the result is we've got several brothers not turning up to rehearsals, meaning I am now the understudy for Simeon as well the Butler. I might not be doing nothing for the majority of the show anymore :D hooray for unreliable performers. It felt good to finally act in a rehearsal and not just sit and sing choir (which I've found out is pretty boring)

I'm assistant director for a regional production of Spring Awakening in Quebec City.

Because we didn't have a lot of man auditioning, the director asked me to audition.

I got cast as Georg, as well as assisting the director !

Post Re: The 'Just Got Cast' Thread
Thanks! I was a little disappointed I didn't get to be a muppet, but really only slightly:

1. Brian's a good part, plenty to do, a solo song (albeit a goofy one), lots of solo lines, etc. etc.
2. It's just good to have any part at all, especially given the large turnout this company had -- and I'd never worked with them before.
3. My wife got in as well, despite her constant protestations to me that "there's no part for" her, as Mrs. T/Girl Bad Idea Bear. So we can do this together, which is always good.
4. And the show just doesn't get done all that often, so again -- just being involved, period, is good.

This does mean I won't be able to take a fifth shot at Sweeney. Or really anything for some time. This show plays in Jan/Feb, and then I'm directing a June play, there's probably not time to wedge anything in between. Could be like 6 months between acting performances. Agh. How will I make it?
