Post Which role should I audition for?
Ok, a community theatre near me is going to be doing "Sweeney Todd" this summer, and I was hoping for some advice on which role to audition for. I am 20 years old, brown hair and green eyes, 5'7'', about 125 pounds. I am a second soprano (I have a very good low range as well, and I used to be a first soprano, so I know if I worked at it really hard I could get it back up there! lol). The role I really want is Mrs. Lovett. I would also love Johanna, but there is a girl auditioning who I think will mostly likely get that role. I guess what I'm asking is if it would be totally ridiculous for me to audition for Mrs. Lovett being only 20 years old...Thanks :)

No, I don't think it would be ridiculous at all. I suppose it depends on who your competition is? Is their mostly college aged students auditioning?

Not necessarily...There's a fairly wide range of ages auditioning for the show, I think. I was originally going to just go for Johanna for that exact reason, but now that I've found out that other girl is auditioning, I'm fairly sure she's going to get Johanna (she's amazing and would definitely deserve it!). But I figure they can always make me look older. And my husband is auditioning for Sweeney (he's incredible too lol) and we have amazing chemistry onstage as Sweeney and Lovett..

Is the Beggar Woman too high for you? If not, that may be a good part. Not a lead, but important none-the-less, and it should be really fun too. But I'm not a performer, so my opinion probably doesn't count for much XD
