When my Community theater director announced we were doing Sunset Blvd. I researched it and instantly decided "Well...looks like I'll be taking a theater break this season!" I was NOT going to do it at all. I like the popular classic musicals and Sunset seemed weird and boring. Plus, I am the go-to-guy for all the non-singing principal roles, and there were no roles for me in Sunset. (It may sound snobby, but I just don't enjoy being chorus/ensemble)

So suddenly my director tells me he wants me to play Sheldrake. Not a huge part, but a decent part. He also sings, but VERY mild singing and it doesn't have to be good singing. I could basically speak-sing his part without taking anything away.

So I auditioned and got the part of Sheldrake. It was fun, I guess. But probably one of the more boring roles I've played (I had to be chorus/ensemble for most of the show since Sheldrake only appears in 2 scenes)

It is on the bottom of my list of favorite shows I've been in, but in did like the music, and the chorus scenes I was in were actually kind of fun (Schwabbs drugstore, Artie's New Years Ever party)
