 Which copy recording
I want to buy a copy of Sunset Boulevard, but do not know which.
As far as I am are there are two recordings. Is that right? American Premiere Recording and the World Premiere Recording. (I am sure there is probably more than that so oops if there is ).
So can someone please direct me to which is the best recording to buy.
Many thanks

I like the US recording with Glenn Close.
Have a look at the webpage.

They talk about the recordings (info-recordings)

The London cast recording is my personal favorite.
You might like the Broadway one if you like a Norma who cannot sing.

The American recording is the only one worth it. Glenn Close is Norma. period. her voice her demeanor her looks..she is perfect. George Hearn is the epitome of Mx. and Alan Campbell is perfectly hardend as Joe.
Lupone is dreadful overdoing it as usual..and playing patti not norma. she is unlistenable. and Kevin Anderson is blans and boring as Joe.
American cast is the only way to go.

wtf from a LuPone in Sweeney Todd fan? Cute...
Get Glenn Close.
It's the most complete recording of the show, and she won a Tony for a reason, wether you guys like her personally or not.
It's my personal favorite too, but i'm not going to factor that into it. C:0

She won he Tony because their was one other person nominated that year. And I like Glen Close personally and as an actress...just not when she sings.

I have heard Glenn in Barnum, Sunset Boulevard, and South Pacific, and her voice is consistently paper-thin.

I saw Patti in London and Glenn in LA....Patti was SO much better! Glenn appeared to us like a troll...I don't know if that was a director's choice or Glenn's but it didn't work for the show...
I have Patti's (the London's) recording....nothing beats the original!
