Post AC/DC Song question
Hey, all.

I've only ever heard the cast recording for this show, but I LOVE it! Which version? I'm not sure.

My question is to the nature of the subject of AC/DC-
I'm probably reading this incorrectly, but I don't know the story of the show, so right now when I hear:
"AC/DC is okay by me
I can switch and change my frequency"
I think of someone talking about their sexuality, and that switching frequencies refers to being bisexual.

Okay, feel free to rip into me over that one, but keep in mind, I'm coming right out to say that I have NO idea what the story is, so I am clueless.

Also-
The very high operatic soprano part that sings the solo line during the instrumental section....
what is she saying? I think it sounds like she's repeating "E-lec-tric", but again- no clue.

Sorry that this is probably such a silly question, but I've always wondered!
Thanks for your replies.

The mention of the Operatic soprano makes me think you've got the "Songs from Starlight Express" - the 1987 concept album they released in the place of a Broadway cast recording.

As Mumsy said, the song is sung by Electra, the Electric engine (male onstage). So on the surface he is singing about types of Electric current, of course! But there's a very strong subtext about sexuality. Onstage he is usually portrayed as voraciously omnisexual - if it moves on wheels, he'll have it! And he's the pampered rockstar - he has five (usually) minders who cater to his every need and whim. He's used to getting what he wants. He's rather fabulous! And very shiny!

I've always believed it to refer to Electra being bisexual. Maybe not bisexual perhaps, but willing to use whatever he has or whatever someone else has to his advantage.
