Kelly O'Hara will be returing to South Pacific for the last two weeks of the show's run and PBS is going to film it for the series Live from the Lincoln Center!!!!!

This is awesome news. Finally we will have a quality professional version of the story to watch (as opposed to the dreadful film versions.)

While it's exciting that O'Hara will be returning, I am saddened that Laura Osnes will not be the one filmed. Based on seeing Laura first hand and seeing videos and listening to the recording of O'Hara, IMO Laura was the superior Nellie.

But either way, exciting news! Now if only Matthew Morrison would return for the end so they could have all the original cast (I think he's the only other noticable replacement.)....

I will anxiously await this broadcast as this is my favorite R&H show. Keep posting in this thread if you get more info.

Oh yay. The tour is coming near me next year, and I wasn't sure if my mom would be willing to bring me or not. This could help me convince her! :D

If it follows past broadcasts, it won't be released on DVD, unfortunately. (But it's ok - someone will record it!!)

This is great news! However, I'm STILL livid they didn't release the filming of LuPone's Gyspy!! ONE DAY, maybe! :)

And GYPSY closed before it was filmed. (unless you mean the archive video,

I really don't see the harm in releasing these recordings after the show has closed. I think there's just a big a market for these as the audio recordings, if not more so.

There isn't even a big market for the cast recordings, apparently.

Of course there isn't, not with sites like TheSingingStage floating around.
