Post The Sound of Music at my school!!!!!!?

----
My Theatre teacher refuses to do "The Sound of Music"
because there are too many children's roles and it's
too deep of a musical!

Loved every second of it! It had been a dream of mine since, like, the age of 5 to BE Liesl. . . .I used to sing "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" just about every day on the playground. . . . actually doing was incredible! The kids became just like a real family, Rolf was awesome, everyone was so talented and wonderful. . .best musical experience I've had to date!

I've done it twice (once onstage and once as the tech director for my sister's high school production) and I would TOTALLY do it again!!!

I adored my character (Elsa) and my songs but I did not like the show. I fear it is much too long, too sappy, and too well known for my tastes.

I was in the Sound of Music this spring and I loved it! You can't go wrong with a favorite like the SOM, and there's lots of varieties in characters, from nuns to nazis! One complaint is that there aren't that many chorus parts. I was a "non-named-nun" and was only on the stage for about 15 minutes in a 3 hour long show. (Now I'm in The Music Man, and that's a much better show for chorus.)

I played Sister Berthe and understudied Mother Abbess and I had a wonderful time. I love the show. If it's done well, it's a beautiful show.

I like the show to go and see it, ive seen it once and i really enjoyed it, however theres hardly any chorus in it, and i dont think i would enjoy it if i didnt have a main part, ive had a few supporting roles and done chorus many times and i much prefer shows like "oklahoma!" and "crazy for you" that have a big cast and everyone has tons to do.
But ive loved this show since i was about 5 years old and it will always be special to me.

Post LOVE IT!
I used to watch the Julie Andrews movie EVERY weekend when I was little (that and Annie) and could quote most of the movie (even used to put on the show with my Barbie's... I had the opportunity to be in it when I was 13, and I (like many others) was a "no-name nun" but I still had a blast. It was always a dream of mine to be Liesl but now I look forward to when I can play Maria (kinda in that age group that's between the two) But yeah, it's a great show-- I'd do it again in a heartbeat. ; )

SoM was my favourite musical when I was a kid... I dreamed about playing every single one of the kids (including the boys). I was really lucky when I was 15 to be cast as Liesl in a community production, which was really really fun. We made some cuts to the show, so it wasn't overly long, and the director was really good and really original about working in chorus people into as many scenes as possible - they were on stage for lots of the musical numbers that they wouldn't necessarily have been - like "I have confidence" for example. We also had some really good dancers who added some subtle interest to quiet songs like "something good" (personally my least favourite song, but that's just my opinion!). I would do the show again in a second!

ok, so I know this post is like a month old.....but I just have to say that SoM is my all time favorite musical, always has been and always will be. I watched it all the time when I was little and cried every time at the end! I could probably recite the script word for word right now if I had to! sorry but I just had to profess my undying love for this show!
