Post Song Discussion: "No Way To Stop It"
Yes, after a long hiatus, Apples2for10's Song Discussions are back! This is one of my favorite R&H songs and is IMHO the least justified cut made to the 1965 film. I think it would have added a lot to the Captain's character (even though the song's message wouldn't have affected him) and made the audience more aware of the treaty (I don't remember the name) and the role it played in the story. I also think that melodically, NWTSI is the most in-keeping with the folksy score and contains some of Hammerstein's wittiest (if not overly repetitive) lyrics. So, who else loves this great song?

I agree that it possibly doesn't fit the show as such, but I think it's a very wonderful song.

And I probably think it's greatness justifies its place in the show despite not fitting conceptually.
