Post Sound of Music books
There have been several interesting books that specialise on SOM - the two Charmian Carr memoirs, the Max Wilk book and the Hirsch book on the film. Yet let's not forget about the Maria autobiography and also the Memories before and After SOM.
To add to this distinguished company of SOM literature we have the new Lawrence Maslon book "The Sound of Music Companion." Has anyone chanced to read this recently-published book? I think I absolutely love it. It is so concise and well-researched, and presents a well-written history of the musical without dwelling on any time period. I think that despite some minor typo errors it's probabably the best Sound of Music book I've read.

I absolutely love this book, it was one of the best presents I have ever received. It is so beautiful and I love how it talks about the film as well as the real story. The pictures are amazing and if i ever need cheered up I go and get it, a lovely lovely book. I particularly like how it has the lyrics included alongside pictures from the film. Its a brilliant book to get for anyone who's a fan of the show, film or the story.

I've read all of the other books as well, but this is by far the best!

Wonderful, wonderful. I think this book would do the parties in the R&H musical, and the parties in the real-life Trapp family, proud.

Post Laurence Maslon's SOM book
It was released last Nov 2007 and I find it to be a great read with nice large glossy pics! Can hardly wait for the softcover edition to buy it!

I haven't read that book, but I did read one of Charmian's memoirs, Forever Liesl, and I loved it! Learning about everything was a real treat. (I was performing in SOM at the time, too!)
