The 1998 Broadway revival

Is the 1998 Broadway production an improvement over the original 1959 stage version and the movie version?

Post The 1998 Broadway revival
Although, as a Rodgers & Hammerstein fan from Singapore, I haven't watched the 1998 Broadway revival, I own the recording of that production, and I consider it a fresh and definitive recording that respects the original. However, I am unhappy to know it didn't win a Tony Award in 1998. I also notice that even though the Rodgers & Hammerstein logo is on the sleeve of the cast-album CD, some people tell me that the Rodgers & Hammerstein office is very unhappy with this revival. Do you suppose this revival could have been extremely disrespectful of the original to offend R&H? I don't think so, as it sounds quite respectful, and fresh.
As an aside, I'm glad that this revival is enjoyed more than the original stage production, thanks to the current generation of families who have grown to love this musical that long ago was hated for being too sugary.
Also, do you know whether London's West End will ever get the chance to see this revival, and the remarks by Mary Rodgers about this production?
