Post subject:  Help with Hope!

Hi everyone! :wave: After lurking {stalking?} around the boards for a few years, I finally joined the community upon needing some audition help. My query is this:

This summer, a theater in town is putting on Anything Goes ('62 version) for ages 14-18. As Anything Goes is one of my favorite shows and Cole Porter one of my favorite composers, I naturally want to audition {auditions are in late April}. The character I will be mainly auditioning for is Hope. Right now, we are required to sing 16-32 bars of a song. Would anyone have some suggestions? Info that may or may not be helpful:
- I am 16 years old, brunette, blue eyes
- 5'6 1/2, approx. 135 lbs
- Training to be a coloratura soprano {approx range: E3-F6}
- I can move. I can learn simple dance combinations and basic ballroom/swing. However, major dancing is out of the question for me!
- I cannot belt to save my life

Any suggestions on how to convey Hope in the acting audition would be helpful as well!

Thanks so much! :D
