Post Cast recordings
There seems to be a multitude of different recordings of Anything Goes out there - plus of course the two different versions of the show doesn't help! Which, in your opinion, is the best recording? I own the 2003 National Theatre cast recording (the 1987 version of the show) and have just ordered the 1962 off-Broadway recording because I wanted a recording of each version - but are there any others that you'd recommend?

there are 3 versions of the show..and quite a few recordings.

Original 1936 London cast with Jeanne AUbert and Jack Whiting. (quite good and very authentic if you love historical recordings).

1962 revival with Hal Linden and Eileen Rodgers. (quite good..linden and kenneth mars are stand outs)

1963 London revival with Marion Montgomery (simply the worst recording of the show.)

1987 revial with Patti luPone and Howard McGillin (best recording IMO)

1988 London cast with ELaine paige (same orchesrations as the 87 but with a much weaker cast)

1990 studio recording with Kim Criswell and Cris Groenandaal. (this is the score as it would have been heard opening night in 1934..brillaint recording.)

london revival starring John Barrowman. eh..not the strongeat.

Thank you! I admit to buying the 2003 recording because it had John Barrowman on it, and for no other reason, so I've ordered the 1987 revival recording as well - we're doing the '87 version of the show a year down the track (I like to be prepared in advance!) so I can listen and compare for myself :)
