We closed a few days ago, agggh, It was so awesome. Yeah, I was the Purser, which the director decided should be played as ultra flamoyant and campy (possibly because that comes naturally to me, ). Yeah, and everyone was double cast which is why the people playing the characters may change from picture to picture...

There were a few creative decisions made (adding chorus' to songs written for one or two people, or putting a bunch of dancers in the background) that i may feel the need to comment on along the way.

Please comment, it's the first thread i've actually posted and you don't want to scare me away

The set!

my costume was SO to big for me

Blow Gabriel Blow = Costuming disaster, they decided it would be like a cruise ship theme night, so half the chorus was dressed in hawaiian (which was not worn in the 30's) and Reno's dress really should have been red

Gypsy In Me, note masses of Gypsy dancers in background, so would not have done that

I Get a Kick Out Of You, they added a chorus to that too

Sorry if i added more photos than you care to look at, i really tried to restrain myself[/img]

Hello there Nabla.

Well.. nice photos.

But I must say.. Your costumes really let you down.
I'm sure the show was great, but most of your costumes don't make sense.

Reno shouldn't wear white.. The angels usually wear black or other mysterious colours, not tan..
And the hawain themed blow gabe ??
:|

But other than that, it really does look pretty good.
I'm sure it was wonderful.
ps.. you're pretty :)

i know what you mean. The costume team actually do a really great job for the most part given their crappy budget, they do make some eneconomic decisions (like ordering my fairly simple costume, which was so to big, and had to be taken in, then taken out for my character double, from American, when it could have very easily been made), and they don't really educate themselves on the show enough, so for instance they didn't really know the costumes for the Angels and Reno in Blow Gabriel Blow shouldn't match the lyrics (But they're volunteers so you can't ask too much of them). As for the Hawaiian outfits that was a really dumb directorial choice.
There were some great costumes, actual 30's vintage ones, which were great but i don't have many photos of those because the person who the photo i posted was mainly focused on taking photos of his daughter (an angel), so there aren't many from when she wasn't on stage.

But yeah, performance wise, it was a great show

I wanted to post this because i'm in it

It's looks like it could have been a marvelous show given a bigger budget, but that's often the way the cookie crumbles on this setting. Your Reno looks perfect for Reno! hehe.

^I agree. The actors look the part very much.
I also like how the proscenium is a part of the set. But the orchestra seems to be in an awkward spot. Are they always like that? Most productions just put them in plain sight upstage or hidden away in a pit.

The only bit that really bothered me was the ship's officers caps - wearing them at the back of the head looks bizarre. I assume it was like that so their faces could be seen and not be in shadow, but.... 8O

Buff :D

Usually the orchestra pit is just infront of the stage, but this year they decided to put a runway infront of it, which they've done maybe once before about six years ago.

Buff, i'm not sure exactly what you mean about the hats, but i always more mine tilted to the side because it looked campy
