As We Stumble Along from The Drowsy Chaperone
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from The Phantom of the Opera (I think this is what our Martha sang at her audition)
A New Life from Jekyll and Hyde
As If We Never Said Goodbye from Sunset Boulevard

I personally like all of Lucy's songs from Jekyll and Hyde.

I'm auditioning for The Secret Garden in about a month and I would love to have the part of Martha because it's community theater, and she is the only character that is around my age, 18. I was just wondering what specific song I should try and audition with. I was thinking Adelaide's lament because it is a funny song and somewhat similar to If I Had a Fine White Horse. But I don't know if it's too overdone. I'm a soprano, so I also feel very comfortable with something like Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Home from Beauty and the Beast, or I Don't Know How to Love Him, but again, I'm not sure if those are appropriate either because Martha is more of a belty mezzo. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Adelaide's lamet tends to be very overdone. When going for Martha, I'd probably stick to a more uptempo song than Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Home or I Don't Know How to Love Him because Martha is generally more cheerful and optmistic than those songs. (Note I said generally because she does have an amazing ballad in Act 2 when D. Craven threatens to send Mary away.)

I don't understand? That song is for a soprano. Martha is an Alto

WYWSHA would be better suited for a Lily Audition

I think of Marth more as either a mezzo or an alto belter. Her stuff is not THAT low. In addition if you have a good range an alto and diffinately a mezzo could hit WYWSHA pretty easily.

Yeah. With the exception of, I believe, the last few notes, it's actually a really low song. Everybody thinks it's high because it's Christine, but people forget what a rangey part that is.

It only goes up to F5 at the very end. Apart from that it stays pretty low. Especially compared to Christine's other material.

I played Martha last November and I sang "If I Had A Fine White Horse". I got the role because I embrassed the accent for the audition.

For my Martha audition I plan on doing 'Wouldn't it be Loverly?' from My Fair Lady. Since it's a song for a soprano and I'm more of a mezzo, I'm taking it down two steps and even considering a third step.
