Post Mirvish Productions Presents THE SECRET GARDEN
I discovered about this new Canadian production of The Secret Garden via a couple of posts in the "Random Facts" thread. The page for the show on the Mirvish website is up here, but at present offers very little information about the production, which is only in March 2011. Does anybody know which version they're producing? I hope it is the original Broadway version and not the revised London one, which is something of a travesty.

It's about time we get a Secret Garden revival. It's been too long!

Post Re: Mirvish Productions Presents THE SECRET GARDEN
I got directed to this post because I was trying to figure it out too! This particular production is starting out in Edinburgh before it moves to Toronto.

Link to the Edinburgh production:

There's a cast list, etc. listed but I haven't seen anything regarding which version they are staging. Judging from some of the text on the website and the fact that they are having some school only shows (they even gave copies of the book away to area schools), I'd say they are staging the London version which is more kid oriented. I will be very disappointed if that is that is the case, but I will probably see it anyway since I live in Toronto.

I got word via Mirvish's Facebook that this is a whole new production:

"Mirvish Productions This is a wholly new production, Eleanor. The authors - Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman - are at work on a number of revisions."

Sometimes I wish people would just leave their work well enough alone. The Broadway version of the show is super, Lucy Simona and Marsha Norman. It works. Let it be and go write something new.
