I used "Stranger to the Rain" from Children of Eden, and I got the role. I also did a monolgue with a Yorkshire accent, which I think was a plus.

I think of Marth more as either a mezzo or an alto belter. Her stuff is not THAT low. In addition if you have a good range an alto and diffinately a mezzo could hit WYWSHA pretty easily.

Have you not listened to "Hold On"??

I would probably avoid "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" because the lyrics have a built in Cockney accent. Martha does not have a Cockney accent, but a Yorkshire accent. Unless of course your director is not a very discerning person.

I used "Look to the Rainbow" from Finian's Rainbow. It only goes up to a D, which is pretty consistent with Martha's part, and it shows off a strong but light hearted voice and has many good spots for belting. You can also incorporate a twinge of an accent into it as it is an Irish musical.
