Getting ready to direct 'Pippin' for community theatre. Would like to use the whole 'white face' thing, but unsure how the 45-plus year olds in the cast will take to that. The other ideas I have are to do wild hair and painted designs/symbols on faces and/or using the feathery masquarade masks for songs like 'With You.'
Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

I personally don't like the white face - however, makeup designs and wild half masks would be very good. In the production I was in, we did very exaggerated, dance-recital style eyes, cheeks and lips, and added masks, hats, and, I do believe the soldiers in "War..." wore red clown noses with their armor.
