Post "LND" Competition and Nat'l Tour Closing
Does anyone fear that Really Useful may decide to close "Phantom" on Broadway and in London to avoid "competition" with "Love Never Dies"? I certainly hoped not, but from the moment Webber decided to go ahead with the sequel I feared this would be the case. Plus, I really can't think of another why the tour is closing, it was still, to my knowledge, making lots of money, and packing in an audience...especially after the movie came out (whatever your opinion of the film may be). Thoughts? I'd be interested in listening...

I hope they closed it! no show should run more than 5 years IMO.

Be that as it may, I love the show and think it should run longer and longer...I feel that with a lot of my favorite shows.

i never really cared for Phantom ..but even my favorite shows i'd rather close with a fresh cast, freshness to the hsow and good production values rather thna closes after 20 years most of which have been tired old years in a creaky production.

phantom, chicago, les miz, cats, a chorus line, all should have lcosed alon time before they did.

"Fear" is not an emotion relevant to this situation unless your livelihood depends on the production.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason.
