The sample of "Beneath a Moonless Sky" sounds like Nightmare Before Christmas. They even seem to have Lock, Shock and Barrel.

Still sounds more exciting than the original, even if I don't like the Phantom's sound at all.

I just downloaded Till I hear you sing, Beauty Underneath, and Devil Take The Hindmost....I'm sold...this musical is not bad....I'll buy the whole album to see if it's as good as Phantom, but it's definately as good as at...say...a JC Superstar and Woman in White level.

I find this confusing, as JCS definately is ALW's second best musical (after Evita, obviously) and TWIW is one of his three worst.

I'm getting the album to see if it's as hilariously cheesy as StEx or as mindnumbingly boring as TWIW.

Personally I'd put it above JCS. I haven't yet heard all of TWIW so I can't really compare it to that properly. But I'd definately put LND above what I -have- heard.

Frank Wildhorn meets Disney. This is the vibe I get from the previews. I might see it, but I'm not sure yet. I despise The Phantom of the Opera, so how can this be any better? Still I wonder, could it be worse? I am listening to Til' I Hear You Sing now, and it is a beautiful song, but it is completely characterless and could be placed in almost any context and given to any character in any musical. As a song in itself it is wonderful, but as a musical number it is amazingly weak.

I have the cd now. I really love it. My comment about Woman in White...after the 30 mins of exposition at the beginning it's musically a really awesome show.

POTO above JCS? Why?

JCS is more inventive and more coherent than POTO, it is tighter and hs better lyrics. Besides, it tries to make a point, and manages to do so in a well written way.

I'm sure you must be kidding

Of course. It can be boring, which is worse than cheesy.

All in all I still think Sunset Boulevard is his perfect musical. But I really like this one....so question....Does anyone know which Gustave is on the recording out of the 7 playing the role?
