The Music of the Night Duet with Crawford and Streisand
Well what did you guys think? If you ask me it's one of those songs that must be sung by men only.

 Can it...
If you ask me, it's one of those songs that should be struck from the collective consciousness of the world, never sung by anyone at all.

I hate this version.
I like the song a lot. Do I think it's OMG THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER? Nope. I just like it.
But this version nearly killed my interest in Phantom. Not because it's a duet. I once heard it as a duet at a local concert. Strictly amateur stuff, but it was quite nice like that.
I just couldn't stand this version, though I like Crawford and, at the time, still liked Barbra a bit.

It just didn't work for me. The whole thing smelled like a rehash of the old "You dont bring me flowers" that Streisand did with Neil Diamond after a DJ mashed both versions together.

*raises hand timidly*
Please don't strike it from my consciousness, I like it. The bridge more so than the verses.
But it's no duet. Wasn't intended as such and now it doesn't work as such.

I'm proably gonna get something thrown at me, but I liked it. It was interesting to hear it as a duet...I keep picturing Erik and Christine singing it when I listen that version...yeah, I'm weird.
But despite me liking the duet, I still prefer the solo version.

I like the duet too. Perhaps because I've always sung 2nd soprano or alto in choruses and choirs, I love the harmony.
I don't go along with those that believe a song sung by a singer in a show has to be sung only by singers of the same sex. Michael Crawford, one of the kings of "Music of the Night" does a fine job of "Wishing" from POTO and "Memory" from CATS (although I prefer Elaine Paige's version).

I really like the music of this version--the harmonies and the lyrics, but the performance was not my favorite.

I like this version, it´s a nice idea. I like both voices here.
It would be interesting to hear it from Phantom and Christine.
That was in my mind!
