Post what's the difference?
what's the difference between once upon a mattress and once upon a mattress jr.?

is it just that there are younger people in the jr. version, or is it really different like into the woods jr. is from into the woods?

acting is not being emotional, but being able to express emotion.

previous roles:
Footstomp - chorus
Slick - Lizzie Lou
Into the Woods - Jack's Mother
the Best Christmas Pageant Ever - Beth

any show that is "jr" is basically the same show as the normal one, it is just easier to do (i.e. not as many harmonies, less special effects, sometimes a bigger chorus, etc.). i'm gonna be totally honest here, i've never even heard of OUAM jr., but it is most likely just a simpler version of Once Upon a Mattress.

Looking at the R & H Theatricals website, there is no specific listing for an "OUAM Jr." However, they do have a thing called the "Getting to Know" collection. One thing they do with these is transpose arrangements to be more amenable to younger voices (ages 6-16).[/i]

Sometimes the difference all has to do with the text or scenarios going in the play and not necessarily the music... For example the king's name (Sextamus) is "inappropriate" therefore they change his name in the jr version to "The Silent King". And with Lady Larken... They completely eliminate the idea of her being pregnant...
