My friend said that "Oliver" is the ultimate All American musical. Because of its source material, I would say the exact opposite. It's British through and through in terms of the costumes, musical style, etc. What do you think?

Lionel Bart was british. So was Charles Dickens.
What arguments does your friend have to say that? I'm curious.

Admittedly, this is a friend that often says whatever comes into her head without really thinking it through. Of course I'm the same way, so I'm not one to talk.
