I was the assistant director for a production back in 2005 (mostly as a coach for the Oliver and Artful Dodger roles because I've played both in my 'youth'); and also had to step into the role of Doctor Grimwig because we never ended up casting him. Not one of my favourite performances; but made the best of it.

I was in an amateur production of Oliver! a couple of months ago and played Mr Sowerberry. It was the first time I've ever done ANY proper stage acting at all and I think I did really well from what everyone else told me. I think I was an unusual Sowerberry because I sang "That's Your Funeral" in a more operatic style than it's normally heard but everyone really liked it, especially the rest of the cast. I also did some chorus work for the production and spent two months training as a standard chorus member but then at the last minute was told to do all the chorus work as Sowerberry  And I'd just got the dance for Om Pa Pa right... I had to spend it all staring judgementally from the steps of the pub...

Oh and speaking of dancing one of my favourtie memories was when the whole chorus including me did our Consider Yourself dance to the time of "Dance Wiv Me" by Dizzee Rascall backstage before a show  It was really fun

I was Nancy. It was my very first lead in high school, and i had so much fun! I was a freshman and the two seniors that wanted the part wouldnt speak to me after the auditions at all. it was funny because during the previous show, they told me that i had a great voice and that i was definately going to get a lead one day. lol But now that im a senior, i completely understand! lol

I was Charlotte. It was awesome because I didn't even expect a role, and Charlotte is a very fun bit part. And our director sexualized everything that could be sexualized, so Noah and I were very lusty, which was fun. And getting to throw water on Mrs. Sowerberry every night? Loooved it.
And then after I was done being Charlotte I was in Oliver's capture, oom pah pah, my name, who will buy and London bridge.

im about to start rehearsal for "Oliver with a Twist". in this producion, nancy is split into two different parts to reflect the different sides of her personality. "light nancy" is the lover who's devoted to bill sikes and the one who cares for oliver, and "dark nancy" is the drunken theif who entertains all the villains and rouges. im dark nancy, so i get to do all the fun stuff, like "oom-pah-pah" and "its a fine life". should be a blast! =D in the end we both get attacked by bill, but from what i can gather from the script, i die and the other nancy doesnt.... kinda odd!

How in heavens do you perform a show that technically isn't licensed for public performance? There is no show called "Oliver with a Twist" as far as I know... :?
