I'm in a production of Oliver! right now and I'd have to say Nancy is my favorite. It could just be because our Nancy is AMAZING though. She dies brilliantly. The first time we ran that scene everyone stopped and clapped because it was so good.

Fagin is also hilarious he's definately my second favorite.

My vote goes to Nancy. She's such a great character, I just don't know how to explain it.

I'm currently in Oliver! and our show opens in less than two weeks. I think one of the reasons Nancy is one of my favorite characters is because our Nancy is so good!

EDIT: I was about to say, "Are we in the same production of Oliver?", but you live in Washington and I live in NC, SO...

I love Nancy. She is so strong, so independent, yet she yearns for love above all else.
When I got the part of Nancy my grandmother came over and sat me down and told me how this is a huge, HUGE task. I will be representing all the women who are/have been in abusive relationships, of the past and of the future. So I've been reading into her character to a great deph to understand her, to BECOME her, and then form my own interpretation for the stage.

Her character was created to contrast the evil of Sykes (Fagin as well, in the novel he is just as evil as Sykes). And without that contrast, 'Oliver' would not be as great as it is today. :)

Fagin is the best part in my opinion.
