(I know this is an old thread- I just want to revive it!)
I was Mrs. Pearce in My Fair Lady last year and it was one of the best experiances in my life!
We had so many bloopers though... I don't think I can even remember them all...
During "I could have danced all night", Eliza was supposed to get changed into her nightgown on stage. (She was wearing it under her dress and we held up a sheet) Unfortunately, the zipper on her dress got caught on the material from her nighty and it wouldn't go down... I tried to help her, but her hair got caught to... She had to sing the rest of her song in her dress with her hair stuck in her zip!
Another funny one: When Higgins is fuming about Freddy, he has a line something like "He wouldn't get the job even if he had the guts to try for it!".. Well... On opening night, our Higgins had a little difficulty with this line: "He wouldn't get the job even if he had... had the... had the.. BALLS to try for it!!" The audience (and the rest of us, back stage) cracked up!
Haha... Just reminded me of another time when Higgins mucked up his lines... When Doolittle comes to get Eliza, Higgins says something along the lines of "Mrs. Pearce, Eliza's father has come to get her... Give her to him at once..", but silly Higgins said "Eliza, Mrs. Pearce's father has come to get her..." I said, "Pardon me, Professor.. Who's father?"
awk.. good memories!
