I can't speak about the RNT recording, since I've never heard it. However, Jonathan Pryce and Martine McCutcheon were just fine the night we saw it live, and we enjoyed it very much.

I HATED McCutcheon. and found Pryce disappointing compared to Rex, Anthony Andrewes and Paxton Whitehead.

Salome, you are entitled to your opinion. Please be courteous and allow others to respectfully disagree with you.

I'm just saying that drunken, bad acting party girl was awful as Eliza.

To you she was, Salome. Others enjoyed her performance very much.

Now that you've told us three times that you dislike her, it's enough. Your continued nastiness and browbeating of other posters is unwarranted. No one's trying to make you like her, so don't try to force your opinion on others.

Thank you.

Whatever. You like what you like, and others like what they like. Let's agree to disagree.

Salome - Did you actually see Martine play the role?

Don't tell me you came all the way to London to see that. ;) I must agree, Martine was very disappointing. Anyone watch Jonathan Pryce's face when she won the Olivier?

I just wished I could've lipread! Everyone at the table was Whiskey Tango FOXTROT? She was a disaster. No discipline and no endurance.
She got the Olivier as part of her pay-off for leaving the production to let a competent performer take over. One of the worst examples of celeb casting in recent years.
