Lida Rose/Will I Ever Tell You and Rock Island... :-D Rock Island is just so very cool. When I did Music Man (I was Mrs. Paroo... SO fun!), our director almost cut Rock Island because our salesmen kind of, well, sucked (not sucked, exactly - they were just kind of lazy and it was a middle school show, so you know, they were middle school boys...). I thought I was going to cry... luckily, she kept it in. :-D

4. (i don't know if this is in the play, but it's in the older movie) The sadder but wiser girl for me!

it IS in the show. And one of the crowd pleasers. Except in the show, they have them singing it in unison, but the director added the harmony in ours.

i like trouble and my white knght.

im so sick of pick a little ( probably because i was one of the river city ladies!) but after a while its so annoying to sing the same thing over and over and OVER again. i liked sadder but wiser too because our marcellus was so funny!

My total favourite is Marion the Librarion. Close second with My White Night, and sadder but wiser girl for me tied. Then Gary, Indiana, and the piano one as third.

Playing Marian, my favorite song is Lida Rose. I just love singing it with the quartet. I also like "Goodnight, My Someone," it's just a beautiful song. But, my favorite song to sing full cast is "Wells Fargo Wagon." It's just a fun song to do and everyone loves it. It what we're doing our curtain call to and we're all just going all out.

OH! And I forgot "Pick-a-little/Goodnight Ladies"!!! That's my all-time favorite dual-song in a musical. The harmonies just make me shivver! I love it, I love it, I love it!

I used to love Pick A Little, but now that I have to sing it for 2 different productions going on at the same time, I've found a deep hatred for the song. Other than that, I LOVE Trouble (in which I get to faint) and Rock Island (so cool) and Marian the Librarian.

I love the "Pick-A-Little Talk-A-Little" reprise. The one with the "fairy princesses". It's funny with our Pick-A-Little ladies.

And now that I play a salesman in the train scene, I have grown an appreciation for "Rock Island".

its all about the shipoopi.

the one song that doesnt further the plot at all

I have to disagree with your statement that it doesn't further the plot...isn't it during the Shipoopi when Marian starts to let down her guard as to revealing to the town that she might have something going on with Harold?? She's sort of coming out of her shell as the dance progresses.
Now, if you're talking about the lyrics not progressing the show, then...well, I still disagree a bit, but hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion! :D
