Post 6 Urchins?
My School has just cast our production of Little Shop and instead of the normal 3 Urchins there are 6...

Has anyone else's productions had 6 urchins? Or is ours just strange.

:P

I thought so too...

But then I remembered another School production of it where they had 6 instead of three too....

it must be a tradition with schools that have too many people for the cast...

Mee too. It sucked. Totally ruined the girl-group feel.
I doubt six would work well either.

whoaness.

to get extra parts when we did it,
the director just made mrs. luce and those characters in the Meek Shall Inherit seperate people, seeing that the guy playing Orin usually is all three of them.

other than that,
the chorus was just used for Downtown & Don't Feed the Plants,
and some were sprinkled in the background during other scenes.

but 6 urchins?

In my school's production, one girl pitched a fit beacuse she didn't get cast, so the director created a role for her. She was a younger version of the urchins, always following them around and singing with them, gettting on their nerves, ect. It worked well enough. But, 6 urchins?? I don't know how that's going to go.

I saw an excellent high school production with 6 urchins. They played on the "gang" theme, and had each set of three girls doing vocal battle. It was pretty good.

Also, a children's theatre company put on LSOH with four urchins. So there were Crystal, Ronnette, Chiffon, and Taffeta.

She was the daughter of someone who contributes a lot of money to the theatre program. And she was talented, there was just no part for her in this show that couldn't have been filled by someone else.
