Post LSOH, Disturbing?
I just got the soundtrack for christmas and have been listing to it lovingly.

Now, I relize that this show is a comedy and a spoof but still, the more I listen to it the more I find some parts sad and disturbing, particularly parts like "It's Just the Gas." I know this may be obvious but I just find it cool/creepy that a seeminly silly show can get to me.

Erm...yeah does anyone else agree?

Which one did you get? The Original or Revival?

Good choice. Yes a little disturbing. The part that gets me is the ACT 1 Finale right after It's Just the Gas with the Feed me stuff.

LSOH is fantastic! The lyrics are great, music is touching and the songs have that "feel" to them. It's an amazing balance of different voices that come together and make this show great.

I always get a little creeped out when Audrey II first starts talking, as well as the Act I finale. My brother hates Don't Feed the Plants, when they sing "and this theatre!" It's such an awesome show, though.

It really is kind of twisted. And if you played it from another angle, it could be a sick twisted, disturbing musical. But since most of the songs are really silly and campy-- It comes off being really funny.

It has spawned several musicals like it, such as, "Reefer Madness"--which if you dont own the DVD to Reefer Madness, by all means GET IT. The style of musical that LSOH and Reefer Madness deal with serious subjects like Drug Addiction and Greed--and present it in a wild zany format that makes the serious subjects...funny.

I think that kind of writing is brilliant and I love it. Little Shop is the pioneer of these kind of musicals.

I agree with superdave. It is so creative how they take serious topics like murder, drug addiction, greed. Then make them funny. With great songs that you like to belt along with at home. I love this show one of my biggest complaints is how they changed the ending in the movie. #-o

Yes. I was watching the movie for the first time the other day (even though I've seen the stage show and have loved the music for over a year) and was like...whaaaa? 8O

LSOH is a creepy show...

But it is a great mix of genres..its a B Grade Horror film & sappy love story. The horrors are lessened by the unbelievability of the story, and yet we are drawn into the plot.
The movie is certainly less depressing than the show (disappointingly) as it really has a hard look at abuse, morality, love etc... great stuff

who would have thought it could come from a film made in a few days? this show is a classic!

I'd say it's more campy than creepy.

But I like dark humor.
