Post Third National Tour Les Miserables Cast Question
I saw Les Miserables in 2005 at the University of Illinois Assembly hall in Champaign, Illinois. The show ran from April 26-May 1. I think I saw the show on Friday night or Saturday night. I'm trying to figure out who played Fantine in the show I saw. That was the only time I saw the broadway touring Les Miserables, but I thought she was even better than the 10th anniversary and 25th anniversary dream cast portrayals of Fantine. I know that is a while ago, but if anyone knows it would help me solve a mystery that has been bugging me!

I think that would have been either Tonya Dixon or Joan Almedilla. I'm no expert on tour performers, but I know Tonya was in the role in 2004 and Joan in 2006, and I don't think anyone else did it between them. Unless you saw an understudy.

Was she black, Asian, or neither?

She was black. If she was an understudy, she would have been an amazing understudy. I'm thinking it was Tonya Dixon.

I saw the show many times that summer in 2005, and Tonya Dixon was Fantine. I'm pretty sure both Fantine covers at the time were white (but I could be wrong).

Does this ring a bell, OP?

I'm sure it was Tonya Dixon. Does anyone know if there are any recordings of her singing "I Dreamed a Dream" I've not been able to find one.
