I'm sure that many of you will disagree, but I think that the problem with doing the stage version of The King and I is that nobody who plays the King can ever measure up to Yul Brynner.
While I agree Brynner is iconic in the role, ( Like Sir Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady & Bob Preston in Music Man) I have seen many Kings tat have made the role their own. the trick is not to imitate but to find your own way in the part.
