the Director at the community theater is dumb...i tried out with Ol Man River and did Pharoah song for callbacks and he cast me as the calypso Brother...

even though im definitely a Bass...im actually able to do it...i guess its cuz its allowed to sound funny with the Jamacian accent...

I always thought Rueben sings One More Angel and Simeon Sings Cannan Days and Judah sings Calypso. But in a version I saw Levi sang OMA Reuben sang CD and Judah still sang Calypso. I think the original recording is how I thought it was, but have the changed it since then?

The licensed version of the score is pretty recent. I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but I think it's somewhere around 1997. I'm sure productions toy with it left and right, but in the script you get when you produce the show, "One More Angel" and "Benjamin Calypso" do not specify the soloist, and Reuben sings "Those Canaan Days."

Joseph: Tenor (Low B-flat to High G).

Would low B-Flat be the second B-Flat under middle C?

Good question! Maybe someone around here can answer it?

I agree.

of course that would be how it'd be written out. when the part's sung by a guy it comes out an octave below what it is written

Joseph often riffs to a high C on the line "And I don't speak Egyptian very well."

Also, is the Cavemen gag in most Joseph productions? The last one I saw, right before the appearance of the Camels and the Sphinx had four cavemen (four of the brothers) scrounge about the stage, grunting, then suddenly stand up, put on boater hats, and sing a barbershop version of the "Poor Poor Joseph" chorus.

Also, Reuben has an optional high G, second to last note in "Those Canaan Days." In my sheet music, he has the option of an Eb or a G before the final F.
