Welcome to Musicals.net.
We hope that you enjoy your visits here and will endeavour to make it a safe and friendly environment for all posters.
The board is run by the owner, administrators and moderators. The moderators are members of the board who have taken on the responsibility for enforcing the regulations below. They are also normal members who will express their opinion as they see fit, as long as it is in line with the rules of the board. The moderators have the right to make any reasonable requests with regards to the running of the forum and keeping the peace of this family-friendly environment as they see fit. We welcome all new members here and attacks on new members will be taken very seriously.
There is a thread called TALK ABOUT THE FORUM HERE and it is especially for all board members to air their views about the forum. You can say whatever you want, good or bad as long as it is polite and within the regulations below. Please keep your comments about the forum to this one thread and do not pollute the rest of the forum with complaints.
Continuously questioning the moderators’ decisions re their actions concerning other members is not acceptable on the board. If you have a problem with the policy itself that is fine but individual’s cases are private will not be discussed.
In return for your posts and comments we promise to listen to all your points and come back to you with an answer to any specific questions. We cannot guarantee a very speedy answer as things will be taken seriously and discussed before we can reply, but we will answer as soon as we can.
Here at Musicals.net we have one basic principle and that is that we expect people to post politely. All the rules below are guided by that one fundamental conviction.
Warnings will be given to members for the following: Violations of any of these rules here may result in your username being instantly revoked.
1. Flooding any forum
2. Posting egregiously pornographic images or words/sentences.
3. Posting egregiously disturbing photos that are otherwise obscene or offensive (i.e. heads being cut off, detailed photos of body parts…. you get the idea).
4. Breaking any of the Terms of Agreement of musicals.net. [see below]
5. Refusing to follow a reasonable request from a moderator with regards to the running of the forum and keeping the peace of this family-friendly environment.
6. Misusing forum features like avatars or signatures.
7. Posting anything libellous or defamatory in nature (things that are untrue and/or said only to discredit other people).
8. Posting repeated or excessively abusive posts towards any other member.
9. Excessive use of profanities [see below].
10. Creating extra usernames for the sole purpose of trolling or doing any of the above.
11. Flaming and trolling is not permitted.
12. Personal attacks and bullying is not permitted. If you are attacked you should report the posts but NOT retaliate.
13. Soliciting and illegal suggestions/activities are not permitted.
14. Please keep conversations on topic and in the appropriate forum.
15. Do not annoy the moderators - If you annoy a moderator, your user-name may be revoked. Do not challenge decisions made by the moderators, if you do you are in violation of the forum rules and may have your user-name revoked. Questions about the forum rules should be addressed to the moderatos in PM or the thread specifically to discuss the forum. Please read and abide by the stipulations in the first thread in that post or it will be removed. Moderator action when warnings are given.
If any breach of these rules happens the acting moderator will inform the other moderators in the admin forum, explaining the reason for the warning. The moderators from that forum will be asked for agreement. If a moderator disagrees then they have to give clear reasons why and a vote will be taken by the moderators from that forum. Majority vote then will carry. If no mod disagrees then, after 24 hours, no vote is needed and the warning issued.
If the offensive post has been deleted [and it is likely it will] the warning will be issued via a random post by that person.
When a member is close to getting a warning the moderators may, if possible, try to prevent this by telling them either by PM or by politely asking them to stop their actions on the board. This is NOT a warning but a just to inform them that if they continue with their actions they may get a warning in the near future.
Warnings will remain on the member’s record but will be void after 2 months. The warning will still show under the member’s name but will not be considered in any later decision to revoke the member's user name. Only ‘live’ warnings will be considered when a member’s username is revoked. [see below]
Moderators will edit or delete any posts that break rules 1-15 or are: bullying, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening or sexually-oriented. Edited posts will be marked *MOD EDIT*. We can’t stop you from going back into that post and editing it back. But if you do, the moderator will go back and delete the entire post and will consider that a lot more disruptive than the original post.
If your post has been edited, there will be a reason why within the post. You will not get a PM about this. If you disagree with that reason then feel free to PM the relevant moderator about it with your reasoning, but engaging in a “who will get bored of trying to post or delete this first” battle with a moderator will get the whole thing deleted and may get the members user-name revoked.
If a member has 6 posts edited or deleted s/he may be subject to a warning.
We can’t read every post in every thread – we depend on you. If a member wishes to report a breach of the rules please do so by hitting the blue button. The moderators will look at that post and decide if it needs editing or deleting. The reporting member will not get a reply from the mod. Do not abuse the blue button, please only report posts for genuine reasons which if asked, you can back up with reasons.
If a member has a serious and personal complaint about the behaviour of a post they are to hit the blue button and also PM the moderators from that forum. The moderators will discuss the issue on the admin forum. If the complaint is considered to be genuine [not just a member with a grudge] it will be upheld by the moderators and will go onto the offending member’s record. If a member has 3 upheld serious complaints s/he may be subject to a warning.
When a member is close to getting a warning for repeated edits/deletions/complaints [see above], the moderators will politely tell them. This is NOT a warning but a just to inform them that if they continue with their actions they may get a warning in the near future. In unusual circumstances this may not be possible.
Bad language will be edited out by the forum filter. If the filter misses it, it may be edited out with stars * or dashes - by a moderator.
If swear words are addressed to another member it will come under rule number 7 and may be subject to a warning.
Repetitive non-swearing abuse of another member comes under rule 7 and may be subject to a warning.
Threads created to abuse other members or threads that have become overheated or that degenerate into abuse will be locked or deleted. The moderator will explain the reason why it has been locked. Any posts within that locked thread that come under one of the rules (1-15) may be subject to deletions/edits/warnings. Posts and threads that are wholly offensive will be deleted. Posts and threads that are made for the sole purpose of belittling another member will be locked or deleted.
Threads will NOT be locked merely for debating. If you argue politely you can debate all day, every day, that’s what we’re here for.
REVOKING OF USER-NAMES
In the unlikely event of a member receiving three live warnings he/she will be censured by having his/her current user-name revoked [see moderator action section]. However we fully believe in second chances. If the member returns and begins posting within the rules then they may do so.
If however they get two further live warnings their new user-name will also be revoked [possibly by IP]. The member will then not be allowed to return to the forum. Any new user-names and posts will be deleted automatically when seen by the moderators. If a member feels they have been issued a warning or had their user-name revoked unfairly they should appeal the decision by sending a PM the moderators. The result of the moderators’ decision is final. More information about this will be added here soon [please refer to rule 15].
HARASSMENT FROM BOARD MEMBERS USING OUR PRIVATE MESSAGE SYSTEM, EMAIL OR INSTANT MESSAGING PROGRAMMES.
Occasionally some of our members have had problems from other users of the site harassing them through the PM system on musicals.net, by email or via instant messaging programmes (like AIM or MSN).
The moderators take this seriously, so please inform us if you feel you have been targeted in this way. However, there is little we can do about the behaviour of members outside the site, e.g. if you are contacted through an instant messaging programme. Our best advice is to block or ignore such abuse. Where the PM feature on musicals.net has been used, there may be more direct action we can take. Even when there is nothing we can do directly, if you inform us of abusive behaviour outside the site this may assist us in making the best decisions about how people behave here too.
A REMINDER OF THE TERMS OF AGREEMENT YOU MADE WHEN YOU JOINED THIS FORUM.
While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
In addition to the above, the email address is also used by the site to email you when you have a PM or when you have been issued a warning by a moderator. It is YOUR responsibility to keep your email address up to date.
