Post Most important lyrics for each character
There's a little exercise I did during Les Miz where we had to pick a turning point in the lyrics that clearly outline our journey, major events, etc., and while writing my own draft of the J&H script, I tried to think of something similar... a lyric which represents each character's ultimate motivation. I'd be interested to hear from J&H fans, and especially actors who have played various roles in the show (I know there are several here), what they would consider to be the most important lyric in the show for a character, which defines what they are fighting for.

It used to be, in the Complete Works, that in "His Work And Nothing More", Jekyll sang "Emma" repeatedly during the quartet, and I quite liked that (I changed it to "Emma, Emma, you're what I'm living for"), and considered that to be the most important thing for him: Emma is his sole reason for continuing on with his mission despite all that has happened (and, conversely, technically the reason for the existence of Hyde and why he goes to see Lucy - he is frustrated by the state of his engagement and the possibility the marriage may not happen at all due to his work).

I have done the same for others, but I want to hear from you guys!

I think for Lucy...

"Still I feel that one dream is my due!
A new world,
This one thing I want to ask of you, world,
Once, before it's time to say adieu, world
One sweet chance to prove the cynics wrong!"
