Into The Woods is definitely not for children, if only Steve had made it a little darker.

The only thing darker than regular ITW is some of the fanfics I've read based on the show.

I don't know; these kids are pretty cute:

It's so easy to mock it, I guess, but I think it is pretty adorable and actually do a great deal better that I would think they could. The music sounds good and they remember the words. And I love it when Milky White sings, even though I am sure he isn't meant to.

Ha! I hate to admit it, but that might be one of the most adorable things I've seen for a while. I'm impressed.

Heh, I saw a grade 3-11 (I think) cast production of Jr. a while back. It ... well, it had challenges. The biggest one was that they were using a pre-recorded instrumental track, and did not have the technology to easily queue it at various points, so if someone got off (and hey, this is hard stuff, they did), the number was SCREWED. Plus, there were occasionally long pauses due to that, or on occasion, a kid just missing an entry cue or something, and these kids with one exception really had no ability to ad lib, play around, or recover from a hiccough like that, so whenever it happened, they would all just stand there on stage, silent, and stock-still waiting to be rescued by magic or something.

This is NOT a show I will be recommending for younger kids to perform. Maybe with a skilled accompanist and some stagecraft teaching, it could be passable, but due to the musical difficulty, it should be saved for the older kids.

Am I the only one bother by how unbelievably stupid it is to see CHILDREN perform something and then criticize then because they suck. WELL OF COURSE THEY SUCK THEY'RE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Do you really think that kids should have a chance to do a production just because they suck? Listen if kids like the show let them do it, who care if it sucks if they learn even a little bit?
