Now I've totally got the mental image of Walken dancing about to "Nice, She Ain't." More the OBC bonus verson than the LuPone arrangement- much more of a lounge piano sound.

Although, my only quibble with him is his signature extra H sounds. "Hrose, I love you, but don't count your chickens/I hwarn you, that I'm no boy scout."

Just like if he's the wizard in Wicked- "Hwonderful, they call me Hwonderful..."

In my sordid saloon..."

Cool Hwhip? Boy, that takes me back. I had to perform that comedy sketch so many times in school for one teacher...

P.S. Anne Hathaway would make an amazing, AMAZING Louise. She is absolutely perfect. Look her up singing on youtube, if you haven't already.

I agree.
Maybe just another revival next year when the next diva in line wants her Gypsy.

I dunno...Patti has said that all of the roles she's had success with aren't roles that she's ever been dying to play...which I find hard to believe...

She's just being humble.

Actually, if you read her liner notes in the CD, she states that as a child of 7 or 8, she wanted to play June, Tulsa, or Mazeppa. And a few years later, her and her childhood friends put on Gypsy on her friend's patio, LuPone playing Louise. But MANY years (centuries?) later, he accepted the role at the Ravinia festival because "there were many people who wanted to see me play the part". Clearly, those many people were her, herself, and she.

I'm not really sure where I was going with that... :-\

Yeah...I knew she did the show with her friends or whatever from her school Dramatics club (which I saw pictures of in her I think it was sophomore yearbook...)
