Post Is there a "Gypsy" movie in our future?
Dear Gypsy Fans,

I was looking at a message board which concerned the upcoming movie version of "Sweeney Todd," and I discovered that someone had said that we should probably expect a new movie version of "Gyosy" in our future!

I'm curious to know if you think that that's very likely!

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I really don't see the point. It has already been filmed twice.

I think a movie version would be boss! I've always thought Meryl Streep was that rare movie actress who could do Rose justice. And she's at the age for the role, so the time is now!

She would be an awesome Rose I think......

But I'd rather have a filmed PBS version of the current Revival.

I third the motion of a filmed PBS version.

On behalf of MdN, let it be so.

I think that's most likely.

Plus, it would cause a lot of drama amongst the aging film and theatre divas. Glenn Close and Meryl Streep and Patti Lupone and Babs and all the others would be neck and neck.

Babs would also be a decent pick in my book, but I see her interpretation being really close to Bette's.

I don't really see Glen in the role....I'd rather they just get a move on with the Sunset Boulevard movie and give her Norma.

That would make my life.

If Meryl got the role, who'd be her Herbie?

Cliche as it may be, Christopher Walken would be the guy for this, I think. He's the proper age, and especially if they reinstated "Nice, She Ain't," no one can sell a lightweight, incongruous soft-shoe number like Chris.

The Streep as Desiree Armfedlt. That would be good.
