Post If You Were Directing This Show, What Would You Do?
If you were directing a production of "Annie", what are some of htie things you would do? Me? I would:

--At the first cast meeting, I'd ask around to make sure that no one's allergic to dogs, because I'd be inclined to use a real dog for Sandy. If one of the cast members happened to be allergic, I'd use a person in a costume. When it got to the finale where Sandy's box comes out on stage, if a real person in a costume is used, I'd have them climb into the box at the beginning of "A New Deal For Christmas" and be ready to go.

--I'd have the people playing Rooster and Lily use either Canadian or New Jersey accents for their "Ralph & Shirley Mudge" act.

How about you?

I'd make sure the dog playing Sandy is well-trained and not constantly trying to run away from Annie.

I'd use the infamous Trinity Rep ending. Gives the show more poignancy.

Omg in my school's production we actually did have a real dog. It was a bit hard for me, cause I'm really scared of dogs. when I was 6 a huge friendly dog did that thing where they put their paws on ur shoulders, but it knocked me down. thank god I wasn't Annie! I was a Boylan sister. I did almost get Annie, cause I could belt out Tomorrow better than any1 in my school, but I got nervous and bombed the actin part :( Anyway, I think I'd write a new scene where Miss Hanagin is a little girl (like maybe 9) and she has a little sister whoes like 6 and really sickly and she is always in bed cause she can't walk and she dies. And that's why Miss H hates the girls cause they're all sad about not having parents, but Miis H thinks they should be happy they're alive and (relatively) healthy. lol.

This sounds fascinating. Explain?

The one where Annie wakes up in the orphanage and it's all a dream.

I would NEVER cast a person as Sandy. I've seen it done in soo many productions and I find it extremley distracting and tacky.
