Post Improvs and Bloopers
What are your funniest improvs and bloopers from your production?

Our Miss Hannigan was hilarious. On the "dumb hotel" line, she said "dumb hoe... -tel". It was awesome.

I can't think of any major bloopers. Our Annie was late getting into her red dress once, and I had to make up a bit about how much I hated the champagne.

Our Miss Hannigan says the line that way too!

I think the best blooper/recovery in our production happened the night our Annie got sick and threw up on stage in the middle of NYC. She ran off stage, cleaned herself up as best she could, and came right back on and said, "Must have been those bus fumes!"

The rest of the number and the following scene consisted of cast members reconfiguring the choreography and blocking so that they weren't dancing in a puddle of vomit, until one of the orphans could come on stage with a mop and bucket and clean it up.

lol let's see ours had a few.. these were dress rehearsals here's a few that stick out in my mind...

One night when I was singing 'Tomorrow' the dog playing Sandy decided she was done and tried to walk offstage with me still hanging onto her leash

The one night they gave me a real apple I choked on it and completely botched the signature song

One night while trying to take the locket off it got caught on my mic and wig and we had to stop the show to untangle it

Let's see.. I'll have to think of some more lol

Our pianist was kind of zoned-out during one scene, and he didn't start playing piano for NYC. After my little monologue about how much I loved it, I said... "I could almost just break out into song about it..." It was all I could think of!! It worked, though!

That happened to me. I had to help Annie take off her locket. So I pull on the locket and her mic comes off and I keep pulling and I'm like "It doesn't want to come off, huh, Annie". And she's like, "Keep trying, Mr. Warbucks", and then I almost pulled her wig off and I had to try to fight off the laughter because it was SO funny. After I got offstage, I yelled at our sound person for putting her mic on AFTER the locket. It was supposed to go on BEFORE.

I always figured that the hotel line was supposed to be said like that.

Um.. our Sandy was horrible. It would never stay on stage. During the Annie/Officer Ward part, Sandy would just run off stage while Annie was calling her. Our Ward would just say something about keeping it on a leash then walk off too. Laaaaame. :-P

Was your Sandy played by an actual dog?

Ours is a real dog. Her name is Tigger. We had some problems with her opening weekend, considering that she has no stage experience. Plus her owners were in the audience, and she would keep trying to go to them instead of to Annie.

After 5 weeks though, she's gotten really good at obeying Annie. The only problem we have now is keeping her from barking backstage. It's an outdoor theatre in the woods, so there's lots of critters around for a dog to bark at.

Post dogs..
Our director was our Sandy's owner and the night before Opening Night she jumped off the stage. We thought she was a goner as she has hip displaysia as well as other health conditions.

Our Bert Healy performed the entire Oxydent scene as Cartman from South Park in the dress rehearsal. It was hillarious!!! I was Connie Boylan, and the three of us had to try so hard to keep from laughing. :D

I remember Sandy trying to run off the one time during the show. He just layed there and really didn't want to come, so from that time on I made sure that Sandy saw the treat right before the dog catcher pulled him away from me. It worked like a charm.
