I was in the ensemble, but I also had the supervision over the children that were in the musical. I was 14 at that time and my father played Tevye, it was great fun doing a musical together!

It's hard, especially in this show, to NOT become a family with your cast!

I full heartedly agree! I'm playing Hodel right now and I utterly ADORE her. I've wanted to play her since I was a little girl. I'm quite literally breathing this character. My whole family is awesome and we have all gotten really close. All the young couples tend to stick together and have a unique chemistry all their own. I've always known this was a brilliant show, but know I truly understand why.

I played Mendel, the Rabbi's son! This show is incredible to say the least.

Avram, the bookseller. Got the dialogue in "Tradition", the solo in "The Rumor", and all that jazz.

I totally rocked the bit part.

I played Hodel a few years ago; one of my favorite shows/roles ever!

A video of "Matchmaker."

...I'm not entirely sure what scene this was.

The end of "Matchmaker."

Avram is somewhat the village sage. He often helps translate things for other villagers and/or brings bad news (for which he is often criticized). Near the end, he confirmed that the eviction order was for real.

Golde!
People are always talking about playing the daughters, and although they are fun, golde is the real lead that carries the family and tevye.

I am currently playing her and it is great! She is one of the best roles just because she has taught me so much about what it means to be a mother.

I am only 15, but this is a youth production. Ages-

Tevye- Junior
Golde- Sophomore
Tzeitel- Freshman
Hodel- Freshman
Chava- 8th grader?

Golde's a gem. She truly does hold the family together- and honestly, who else would be able to stand being married to Tevye for 25 years?? Not me!

I've been in Fiddler twice- once in ... I think it was 2007/8? I was about 13 or so, so I was in the ensemble. My second production was in 2010- I played Nachum the Beggar. I struggled with this at first, being as he was a old beggar man when I was a 15 y/o girl, but I really think it was a fantastic experience. Our costume lady was fantastic, and playing that role really helped expand my lower range (not like I really wanted to, but anyway...). I had strangers come up to me after that show to get their kid an autograph or something, and they would always be shocked that I was a girl. (hooray!)

So yeah, not the biggest role ever, but it was great because the Beggar is his own unique character who always stood out in the background begging for money. ;) I really do think it helped me get better as a actor.

Hurrah for hair and beard dye.
I look young for my age, thank goodness
I LOVE Fiddler and would do it again
Although this time, Motel would be a "miracles of miracles" at 50

Got ya beat by a hair. I'll close as Motel this weekend, less than 2 weeks from my 42nd birthday. And I'm a bass. Making this convincing has been... a challenge. My wife, 6 years younger than me to the day, is playing Golde.
