I've been getting the impression that "Rainbow Tour" hasn't been getting very much love around the Evita forum. It's probably my favorite song in the show. The melody is one of Webber's finest, and Tim Rice's lyrics are, as always, fantastic. Plus, it gives the male talent a chance to shine that they don't otherwise have. Thoughts?

I like the rainbow tour! Okay, it isn't my favorite song in the show but hey.. I do like it. And what would a musical about Evita be without even mentioning the rainbow tour? ;)

I love the song, it just has the tendency to get stuck in my head, which means I get tired of it rather quickly :)

Very good song - ALW in old fashioned rock mode and Tim Rice coming up with rhymes which mean you either love him or hate him.

"Franco's reign in Spain should see out the forties...
But more important, current political thought is..."

Although it's supposedly true and therefore not Rice's invention, I also like the joke about the admiral thinking the only reason Eva's offended at being called a whore is because she's since retired from that profession.

I like Rice's MY FAIR LADY reference in the song. Am I the only one who noticed this?

The one thing I don't understand is Che's position in the scene. It seems he wants to say "no!" all the way through the song, but he's forced to praise Eva's progress. ("And the answer is a qualified - ")

So, where does Che stand on this situation?

In the film, the cuts back to Che give his opinion... as does the final "Yes.. and no.." lines.

Peron's two aides try to convince themselves it was a success, Che tsk-tsks, and replies "no".

I love this song as well. Just everything in the song just goes together...? It's just a great song!

It took me several years, but I finally picked up on it!
