What note is the syllable "BE" sung on the last time Bobby sings Being Alive! in the eponymous song?

In the Big Book of Broadway (2nd edition) it's a G sharp.

In All Sondheim Volume 1, it's an A.

They're in different keys, obviously. I don't know which one is the original.

Aww, crap... I was hoping it was an E... at least it was in the "Definitive Broadway Collection..."

I hate the deceptive transposition...

That's the version I have... I think (lemme go check). I got it from the Sondheim at Carnegie Hall book.

EDIT: Yes, in the key of C major, it's an E. I believe this is also the version used in the 95 revival.

The original "Being Alive" on the OBC is in the key of E and the high note at the end is a G#. The revival with Raul Esparza brings it up to the key of F with the high note being an A.
