Post Maybe This Time/Funny Honey
Am I the only one who finds these songs similar to the point of being Webberesque recyclings?

I love it- i think it would make a lovely medley for someone's cabaret act.

"I LOVE incarceration,
I could lock up a platoon,
I'll be strapping up an inmate,
Very tightly, very soon.
So wave one bachelor goodbye,
She'll be your bride- she'd rather die
Than have her daddy ossify
In my sordid saloon..."

You are most definitely right.

We did Cabaret in 2004 and Chicago in 2007. I often notice similarities between songs, but I couldn't identify this one at first. It was certainly familiar - the chord structure, the rhythm, the same sleepy lazy somnolent quality - and then it struck me. One day in rehearsal, as our Roxie sang the opening verse of Funny Honey, I started singing Maybe This Time over the top - and it fit perfectly.

I guess it's to be expected, given that both shows came from the same pen, but if we noticed the similarity, then surely they did?

I Totally And 100% Agree and think that they both sound The same, The Other day i was listening to maybe this time And actually started to sing funny honey  coz the opening is the same only funny honey is a tad faster. Was well weird most of the words to funny hunny actually fit in if u sing along :?

Was really funny i thought Clever tho,
That caberet and chicago use the same chords thats why they sound the same they are both set at the same time period :D xx

You really notice in the intro. :D

But when you think about it, it's hard to come up with a melody that isn't already a song, at least they're both Kander and Ebb songs.

Is it just me or does the instrumental before they dance in 'Second' from 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee also remind anyone of 'Funny Honey'?

Currently: Charlotte- Oliver!
Last: Helena/Titania U/S- Midsummer Nights Dream
Belle- Beauty and the Beast
