Post Dudamel conducts "The Waltz King"
I love seeing such an active forum of local music and performances! I wish I'd found this site a lot sooner. :)

If there are any Classical music fans in LA, Hollywood Bowl has a wonderful night of Johann Strauss Jr's - aka "The Waltz King" - music conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Here's a little more info on the performance - tix and additional info her:

LA Phil Presents Dudamel Conducts Strauss
Thursday, July 21, 2011, 8:00PM at the Hollywood Bowl

Artists & Program:
Los Angeles Philharmonic
Gustavo Dudamel, conductor
Pinchas Zukerman, violin

Program: Strauss, Jr.: Overture to Die Fledermaus
Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 1 Details Listen
Strauss, Jr.: Tritsch-Tratsch Polka
Strauss: Waltzes from Rosenkavelier
Strauss, Jr.: Thunder and Lighting Polka
Strauss, Jr.: Czárdás from Ritter Pázmán
Strauss, Jr.: On the Beautiful Blue Danube

Dudamel pays tribute to the Waltz King and is joined for Bruch’s popular concerto by the eminent Zukerman.

About the program: Overcoming his father’s violent life-long opposition, Johann Jr. eventually took his father’s crown as the “Waltz King.” In the 1870s, Strauss and his orchestra toured the U.S.; in Boston, he even led a “Monster Concert” of over 1000 performers in his “Blue Danube” waltz, among other pieces.
