 Charlotte D'Amboise
Hey everyone.
So I've been watching the different "The Music and the Mirror" performances on youtube, and there are many talented singers/actresses/dancers who've played the roles to varying degrees of success. I found Charlotte D'Amboise's version absolutely stunning. She acted it perfectly and danced perfectly. I thought she sang it well, which is where my opinion differs with apparently quite a few. I was wondering: Why does everyone hate D'Amboise's singing so much? Other than less than perfect diction, I thought it was quite good.
In case any of you haven't seen it, look it up. The acting is amazing.
Just my two cents. Any comments?

I loved Charlotte in the role. I was lucky enough to see her on opening night and then again a couple weeks later She danced and acted the shit out of it... my only issue is with her liquid U and how tight she sings "give me a chance to come through" (threewwwwwwwwww). I thought she sang the rest of it very well. In my opinion, the dancing made up for it. I've rarely seen such uproarious applause as I did on opening night.

I agree. I am not a fan of her speech, but I think Charlotte is absolutely brilliant. She really commands the stage. I truly do not understand why people keep complaining about how "bland" her Cassie was! I guess I would have had to see Donna McKechnie in the original.

I saw her (I think?) when I saw ACL January '07. She was wonderful!! I loved her performance so much. But, of course, I love "Music and the Mirror"...but I think I remember her performance.
It was one of the few things I actually rather enjoyed in ACL, because I was rather tired.

 Re: Charlotte D'Amboise
I thought she was quite good. She's very light on her feet. It's rough to do that singing in between the dancing the second time. She didn't even sound out of breath. Wow!

I prefer the original cassie. She just seems more raw and desparate AND she sings the montage as it is written... it's not even that high
