Post What I Did For Love in C Key
Hi there. I'm looking to do What I did for Love from A Chorus line for an upcoming audition.

I have the sheet music from the origional Broadway musical but my singing teacher insists that although it sounds alright, it would be much better in a higher key.

We are both now searching to see if anyone has the sheet music in a C key?

He says that many books which have an assortment of musicals score have done this. He even has a copy but unfortunately its missing a page.

I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks

i've never seen a copy in C major, but as a rule, play the chords a major third higher and start on an E4 instead of a middle c, moving to a G4

hey no probs :) i can type in what notes the words would be if you'd like. btw are you sure it was in C major that you needed it? I think that'd make it awfully high by the last verse....

Hal Leonard has come out with a ton of compilation books (Best of Broadway type stuff) with "What I did for Love" in the key of C. I know that the "100 years of Broadway" book has it. If you have a good local public library, look it up. Most of Hal Leonard's compilation books have that song in that key (the ones that I've seen at least).

Hi guys,

thanks for your help.

Yeah im from NZ so our libraries arent all that well stocked. But i will have a look around.

I think my teacher may have located something...

I thought it might be too high too but he reckons it makes for a better sound out of my comfort range and believes i can reach the notes. Might try both before i make a decision.

Thanks again

I found it in the library yesterday - in a "musical memories" (or something like that!) book
